What Each Tier Unlocks

The same table the app uses. "Mac" means the free PingKit Agent running on a Mac in your home or office; everything it does on that Mac is free, and Guardian is what puts its findings on your iPhone.

Entitlement travels both ways: a Guardian or Guardian Plus subscription bought on the iPhone or inside the Mac Agent unlocks that tier on both through iCloud, and the higher tier held on either device wins on both.

What's Actually Free

Unlike apps that lock the useful features behind a paywall, PingKit's entire 19-tool kit is free: LAN scanner, security scan, port scanner, ping, traceroute, MTR, WiFi analyzer, speed test, SSL inspector, DNS lookup, and more. No ads, no account, no nag screens.

When Guardian Is Worth It

Pay for Guardian if you want the network watched for you instead of checking manually. The Mac Agent is free and keeps scanning on the Mac whenever it is awake; its alerts for a new device or an internet drop reach your iPhone without a subscription, and Guardian is what puts its device list, timeline and alert history in PingKit on your iPhone. It also raises Uptime Watch from one hourly URL to ten sites or ports checked every five minutes, and Cert Monitor from one domain to five, charts how your connection changes over weeks, and gives the AI Apple Private Cloud Compute for the questions too large for your iPhone to hold on its own.

When Guardian Plus Is Worth It

Guardian Plus targets people who manage TLS certificates or need compliance evidence. One monitored domain is free and Guardian watches five; Plus watches 50 (every tier is alerted at 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before each expires) and exports a signed ISO 27001-ready PDF inventory. On a Mac it is $4.99 a month, and the Agent polls every domain hourly for as long as it is running, whether or not the Cert Monitor window is open. The expiry push lands on your iPhone, the Agent shows its own notification on the Mac, and Plus can send every alert by email or to a webhook as well. If you've ever been surprised by an expired cert or asked by an auditor for cert evidence, this tier pays for itself the first time.

Questions and answers

Is PingKit free?

Yes. All 19 network tools are free with no ads and no account required, and so is the Mac Agent, including its monitoring and alerts on the Mac. You only pay if you want the optional Guardian features: the Mac Agent's data and alert history on your iPhone, Uptime Watch for 10 URLs, Cert Monitor for 5 domains, trend charts, Apple Private Cloud Compute answers, and with Guardian Plus, Cert Monitor for 50 domains and the ISO 27001 export.

How much is PingKit Guardian?

Guardian is $2.99/month or $24.99/year, on iPhone and on Mac. Guardian Plus is $9.99/month or $79.99/year on iPhone and iPad, and $4.99/month or $39.99/year on Mac, and includes everything in Guardian plus Cert Monitor for 50 domains, alerts by email and to a webhook, the signed ISO 27001 PDF export and scheduled, branded reports. Every plan has a 1-week free trial. Cancel anytime.

What's the difference between Guardian and Guardian Plus?

Guardian is about the network being watched for you. It puts the free Mac Agent's device list, timeline and alert history on your iPhone, raises Uptime Watch from one hourly URL to ten sites or ports checked every five minutes, and Cert Monitor from one domain to five, charts latency, speed, jitter and security-score trends per network, brings over the speed tests the Mac runs on its own schedule, and adds AI answers from Apple Private Cloud Compute for the questions too large for the model on your iPhone to hold on its own. Guardian Plus is for certificates and compliance evidence: Cert Monitor watches 50 domains instead of 5 (expiry alerts at 30, 14, 7 and 1 days come on every tier), every Uptime Watch and Cert Monitor alert can also go by email and to a webhook, and it adds the signed ISO 27001 PDF export and reports branded with your own name. A report cadence is a reminder rather than a delivery, because iOS cannot build a report in the background: PingKit tells you one is due and prepares it the next time you open the app.
